This is a place where I give random theological ideas and take a stab at a biblical worldview. The name of this blog comes from a couple of things. Jesus tells us that the devil is a liar.
“You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.”
John 8:44 (NKJV)
Because the devil is a liar, we must resist him.
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
James 4:7 (NKJV)
I once had a job at a church as the director of spiritual health. The mission statement of my job was, “We get healthy by identifying sin and replacing our lies with God’s truth.” That statement is a way of getting at the fact that we are easy prey for the deception of Satan. It takes an honest and routine assessment of our hearts to be on guard against lies.
Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the standard of our God-given faith.
Romans 12:3 (NLT)
Hence the name of the blog, Honest Resistance.
